Peer Guardian Versus Windows 7 64-Bit. Wait, there is no fight, not when Peer Guardian runs like a champ in Windows 7 64-Bit. I used Peer Guardian in Windows XP to keep the “pesky” people away. Once I loaded up Windows 7 64-Bit I loaded PG to find that it would not install or load because of driver signing. This article will walk you through the steps necessary to install & enjoy PG on Windows 7.
Quick Guide
1 First go grab the newest Peer Guardian file.
2 Download Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider aka DSEO.
This free program will override the Windows 7 driver signing process. This is a perfectly safe program, research it if you need assurance.
3 Install DSEO and enable TEST MODE and reboot your computer. Notice the “Test Mode” in the bottom right of your desktop…
4 Once rebooted, you need to install PG2 but DO NOT launch it. Open the PG2 install folder, (C:Program FilesPeerGuardian2), and look for “pgfilter.sys”. This is the unsigned driver that you will sign using DSEO’s sign file option. Type the path for pgfilter.sys which should be (C:Program FilesPeerGuardian2pgfilter.sys), and press OK.
5 Now copy & paste the following code in the run box. In Windows 7 the run box is found via START>ALL PROGRAMS>ACESSORIES>RUN.
bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
6 Your done! Remember you may need to Run As Administrator PG2, just right click on it’s icon in start menu.
Dude, your articles is chopped up! In the middle of step 4 your text ends and there’s no link to the next page or anything… Something went wrong I think…
Thanks for the heads up. Problem was with site backup. At least Google cache helped save some typing.
You are the man. Worked like a charm.
I kept trying to get it to work, I downloaded all the tools but I had already installed and ran PG2 >_<. Anyhoo, I got frustrated and went out and found PeerBlock. Same source code just has a bunch of fixed errors, now it's sucess could have been due to the DSEO that i used earlier to get PG2 to work but this one worked first time everytime! I'm not putting PG2 down I love it! But PeerBlock worked just as well and its built on top of old reliable PG2!
Not working for me!
When I put C:Program FilesPeerGuardian2pgfilter.sys 7 asks me what to do with it so I told it to always open with PG2.exe.
I AM administrator on my PC, I’ve right clicked on the exe for PG2 but not doing it, I still get that stupid:
“Class win32_error
Start service
577″
Do we have to remain in test mode all the time?
I just wanted to sign in and tell you THANK YOU very much. I’ve been running Windows 7 since beta builds and given that I’m using 64-bit, I always missed having good ol’ PG2 around. Thank you!
It appears you need to stay in Test Mode. Once I left PG failed to work again. I’m checking out PeerBlock instead…
Thank you!!! Works like a charm!!!!
Thank you! It works! The only downside is that you do have stay in test mode in order for PG2 to work.
Sucker DSEO is not downloadable. It is sending to a website to scan the PC. May I know why such stupid thing for DSEO.
Users, beware, this site is found to have many Malwares as I was trying. Someone misguding the PG2 users, here.
@Brian
Checked it and it works fine. Your the only one who appears to have had a problem. DSEO is not my site anyway so voice your concerns to them if valid.
@Rhythmeister,
“When I put C:Program FilesPeerGuardian2pgfilter.sys 7 asks me what to do with it so I told it to always open with PG2.exe.”
You don’t put that part in the “run” bar, you re-open DSEO and click to sign an unsigned system file, and put it in there. Hope that helps!
I’ve managed to get the program up and running but it continues to fail when I try to update to the most current lists.
Any suggestions?
~Ben~
I tried and found it anooying I did love PG2 but Peerblock on w7 64 bit worked straight away, less hassle and just as good – Thanks for advice though
I followed the directions to a T, but didn’t see anything in my system tray or elsewhere that said “Test Mode”.
Too many hoops to jump through for such a simple thing.
I d/led and installed Peer Block as some of the others here suggested and it installed without a hitch exactly like Peer Guardian used to and just WORKS.
I’m sold.
Hi how do you undo this command?
bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
Is it bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS ?
it doesn’t work on mee

Help me please!!
hey, does the DSEO Test Mode have to be enabled for PG2 to work??
Cheers mate. It works fine for me. Although I didn’t run the DOS batch command : bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS. Not sure what it does?
thanks dude, i made it!
and it really works!!!
Hi, i got stucked in step 4, where is “Type the path for pgfilter.sys … and press OK.” I might be little slow, but where should I type that? Please help.
lenalee , you should type that in “Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider ” after choosing , “sign driver”, in side of the software.
once you get into you type in the search bar: pg2 ‘error contactin url’ update fix’
it really works.
when it is time to add your blocklist use all of blue track only plese omit trojan because it not working. so please pay close attent. if your add it by mistake you have to start all over again fresh. only add three at a time. than go back and add three more. because it will not up all 12 or thirteen at a time. you will he add four and than went.
enjoy
please go to youtube and type in the search bar: pg2 ‘error contacting url’ update fix’
he will give you step by step instructions. you can even write them down as i did.
when it is time to add and update add 3 to four at time in order for it to update correctly. add all of the bluetack only omit only TROJAN because its not working. you will be adding:
bluetack: tracker, bogon, dsheld, edu, than update
add: computers, hijacked, multcast, privite and than update
add: reserved, level 1,level 2, microsoft, and spider add update
make sure you MAKE SURE YOU OPEN PEERGUARDIAN AND DISABLE IT BEFORE YOU START UPDATING OR ELSE THE PROGRAM WILL CRASH AND YOU HAVE TO START ALL OVER AGAIN I KNOW BECAUSE IT HAPPEN TO ME. JUST FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION VERY CAREFULLY
ENJOY
