Jupiter Saturn Cycle

Saturn – Jupiter Cycle:  ( 19.85 years): this was probably the most important cycle monitored by the ancients (a single conjunction of these two planets happens every twenty years but it may sometimes be repeated  two or three times over a period of few months due to the retrograde motion of one or both planets). Every successive conjunction takes places 240° forward on the Ecliptic so that every third conjunction (approximately every 60 years) the alignment returns approximately to the same place on the Ecliptic (with a difference of few degrees).  Due to this peculiar relative motions between Jupiter and Planet, for approximately three series of 60 years (180/200 years depending on the period) their conjunction takes place in a sign of the same element: this cycle was called “Trigonalis” by the ancients. The change of Trigonalis was regarded as a key event in the life of a nation (i.e. the change of Trigonalis happens when a Jupiter-Saturn conjunction takes place in a sign of a different element): it was meant to mark a radical change in the history, economy and destiny of nations.  Recognizing the importance of this cycle in marking radical changes in history the Greeks called it the Great Chronocrator  (or the Master of Time).

 Jupiter Saturn Trigonalis

In the chart below we can see the last Jupiter Saturn Conjunction which took place in May 2000 with the next due in year 2020 or approximately 19.8 years later.

It is believed that W.D. Gann used extensively this cycle as his "Master Time Factor" for his famous long term stock market forecasts.
It is interesting to note here that the Jupiter Saturn cycle can be correlated to major tops and bottoms in many different markets such as Gold, Agricultural commodities and the stock index S&P500 as it can be easily seen with the charts below.
